Butterfly butterfly

Though it was bug week, the clear favorite was butterflies... We didn't have enough wings to go around so we made our own!

We practiced cutting and creating symmetrical butterflies
Joyce, the art angel visited and did a special butterfly art program

Lifecycle of a butterfly

We read the very hungry caterpillar and discussed the lifecycle of a butterfly from egg to caterpillar to cocoon

Bug walk

What did we see on our bug walk this week?

And spiders
And even a friendly chipmunk!

We read the book yucky worms and learned that worms are not so Yucky!
Using playdoh, we rolled out some worms
And practiced making our letter of the week, U
We discussed how worms make tunnels so roots can get down and we saw that some of our seeds have roots now!

We also went on a "u" scavenger hunt and found the letter u all over our room!

Itzi bitsi spiders

We learned the itzi bitzi spider song and read mrs. Spiders tea party. Though spiders are arachnids and not bugs, they do eat all types of bugs!
We drew lines and circles to make spiderwebs
And practiced cutting and counting to make 8legs
